Bill
and his family live in the heart of Wisconsins Kettle Moraine.
He has been painting since he was a young boy getting early training
from his mother, who was an artist, and later from several schools
and artists in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Bill earned degrees in Mathematics
and Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. His undergraduate
and graduate degrees in Biology exposed Bill to the writings of Aldo
Leopold. Leopolds Land Ethic has been a major influence
in his art work.
Accomplishments include designing the 2002 &1995 Wisconsin Inland
Trout Stamp, the 1997 &1986 Wisconsin Wild Turkey Stamp, the Ice
Age Park and Trail Foundation Print in 1989, the 1988 Wisconsin Great
Lakes Salmon and Trout Stamp, Best of Show at the 1990
and 1992 Wehr Nature Center Wildlife Art Show and 1st runner-up in
the Wisconsin Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. Bills
work has been shown at the Great Lakes Wildlife Art Festival, Milwaukee;
the Miller Art Center, Sturgeon Bay; the Wisconsin Wildlife Art Exhibition
at the West Bend Art Museum and The Alexander House, Port Edwards.
His art work has appeared in Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine,
Wisconsin Outdoor Journal, Fur, Fish and Game, and Wisconsin Academy
Review. Bill recently completed the illustrations for the book, Conquest
to Conservation, by Mike Dombeck, former Chief of the U.S. Forest
Service.
