A
native of Wisconsin, he studied at the Layton School of Art, worked
with an advertising agency and an art studio before becoming a freelance
artist. He won the 1977 Federal Duck Stamp Competition, Wisconsin's
1979 Trout Stamp and the 1980 Duck Stamp Contests. He designed Wisconsin's
first Great Lakes Salmon and Trout Stamp in 1982 and won the 1989
Inland Trout Stamp Contest. He's been ARTIST OF THE YEAR for several
organizations: Wetlands for Wildlife, Wisconsin Ducks Unlimited, Wisconsin
Waterfowlers Assoc. Great Lakes Wildlife Art Festival, Milwaukee's
PBS Channel and Wings over Wisconsin. His works have been exhibited
nationally in galleries and museums such as the National Museum of
American History (Smithsonian Institution), the Leigh Yawkey Woodson
Art Museum, including tours to the National Collection of Fine Arts
in the Smithsonian, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, San Bernadino
County Museum, Milwaukee Public Museum and the University of Nebraska
State Museum.
