Ted and his wife Kathryn reside in their home studio in Northwest Montana on beautiful Flathead Lake near pristine Glacier Park. This "Big Sky" country, with its spectacular beauty and its abundant wildlife, has influenced Ted's paintings. When creating a panoramic landscape or a little intimate slice of nature, he displays a technical skill with his color pallet. His forms have realistic crispness but retain a painterly quality. His style would be classified as impressionistic realism. Ted produces images that have the illusion of space and depth giving his work a third-dimensional feeling. He will spend hours on subtle renderings of clouds and sky to bring out a spectrum of colors to create spatial and atmospheric perspective. Ted enjoys painting wildlife in their appropriate environment. His rendering of the animal can dominate the scene or be an elusive element blending in the background or landscape He strives to depict the special personality of the subject and will often inject a sense of whimsy and humor. Ted's art education includes the following: Ted was a founding member and teacher at the Village Gallery of Art in Beaverton, Oregon. He also taught at the Nut Loft Gallery in Beaverton, Oregon. |
